Lighthouse Lab Services is partnered with a top healthcare facility in Raleigh/Durham, NC and we are searching for a Medical Lab Scientist to join the transfusion department.
Position Information:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist III is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Utilizes requisite equipment instruments and computer systems.
- Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods.
- Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Takes a lead role in the development and implementation of new procedures instrumentation and computer functionality.
- Assumes responsibility for one or more major on-going laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement safety instrumentation quality control regulatory administrative staff development or computer systems.
- Serves as a resource in area of responsibility.
- Performs testing that requires specialized knowledge within a discipline and/or crosses disciplines as a technical expert.
- Trains new employees in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff.
- Assists supervisor in the review of laboratory reports procedures and quality control.
- Helps oversee and assure complete documentation of employee training annual competency testing and procedure manual reviews.
- As a technical expert serves as a resource and mentor to staff and ensures that technical requirements for regulatory agencies are met.
- Oversees departmental proficiency testing.
- Assumes major responsibility for organizing updating and reviewing departmental procedure manuals and technical resources.
Experience Requirements:
- At least 3 Years serving as a Clinical Medical Technologist in a Clinical Laboratory with Moderate and/or High Complexity Testing
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science
- Licensure/Certification and Certificate in Medical Technology
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- ASCP or AMT or equivalent
Hours of Work:
Monday-Friday; 7:30am-4:00pm
Weekend Requirements:
Every Fourth
Call Requirements:
1 every 4 weeks for call
