    Job Summary:

    Lighthouse Lab Services is looking for a Lab Manager for one of the premier healthcare networks in the country. This position will support our Anatomic Pathology department. The role involves planning, coordinating, and integrating departmental services, ensuring effective collaboration within and across departments. The individual will interact with various departments to manage and enhance departmental functions, contribute to financial planning, lead supervisory teams, oversee staff performance, and ensure regulatory compliance. They will be overseeing Histology, Cytotechnologists, and Microbiologists, which are combined into two small departments consisting of 8 – 10 teammates.

    Description of Job Responsibilities:

    1. Departmental Coordination:

      • Plan, coordinate, and integrate services within the department and across other departments.
      • Facilitate interactions with all departments affecting the assigned area.
    2. Financial Management:

      • Coordinate the preparation of departmental budgets and financial reports.
      • Recommend capital purchases and provide financial justifications and operational reasoning for proposals.
      • Submit financial information to the Director.
    3. Leadership and Supervision:

      • Lead the department's supervisory team.
      • Assist in developing and implementing workplans for assigned areas.
    4. Staff Performance Management:

      • Evaluate individual staff performance.
      • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and counseling.
    5. Variance Investigation:

      • Investigate variances in performance or financials.
      • Recommend and implement corrective actions and track their effectiveness.
      • Communicate necessary changes to the Director.
    6. Budget Accountability:

      • Maintain accountability for budgetary resources in the assigned area.
      • Review monthly financial reports to monitor units, expenses, and revenue.
    7. Policy and Procedure Development:

      • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support service provision.
    8. Regulatory Compliance:

      • Act as a resource for regulatory compliance issues.
      • Develop solutions for corrective actions to address instances of non-compliance.
    9. Performance Improvement:

      • Lead and participate in performance improvement activities for the assigned area.
    10. Additional Investigations:

      • Reinvestigate variances as needed, implement solutions, and communicate changes to the Director.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biological Science. A four-year degree is required for managers of non-testing areas.

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    • ASCP Certified Medical Technologist (MT) is required.
    • Open to Histology (HT) and Cytotechnologist (CT) ASCP certifications.

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • Four to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Two years of previous management experience.

    Schedule:

    • Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
    • On-call availability if needed.
    • One weekend may be required per month.

    Salary:

    • $37.24 – $58.20 per hour, based on experience.
    • This position is exempt/salaried.

    Additional Benefits:

    • $10,000 Commitment Incentive bonus for 2 years.
    • Relocation sign-on eligible.
