Job Overview:

The Blood Bank Medical Technologist is responsible for performing various laboratory procedures related to blood banking, including blood collection, processing, testing, and storage. They ensure the quality and safety of blood and blood products for transfusion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs waived, moderate complexity, and high complexity testing on patient specimens.
• Correlates and interprets data utilizing critical thinking skills and knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments.
• Involved in teaching and training students, new employees, and residents/medical students.
• Effectively performs problem resolution, equipment maintenance, reagent preparation, and test result data entry.
• Successfully and timely completes all required competency assessments.

Requirements:

1\. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.

2\. ASCP or AMT certification within one year from date of hire.

Skills:

• Proficient in blood collection techniques and laboratory procedures.
• Knowledge of blood typing, compatibility testing, and blood component separation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

Salary/Shift:

• $29.00 - $41.00
• 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; weekend, holiday & standby rotations required)
