Lighthouse Lab Services is a leading provider of laboratory personnel in the country. Currently, we are looking for a Research Laboratory Manager to join a very well respected University Health System in Chicago, IL. This person will be responsible for overseeing two research laboratories.
Work closely with PI and researchers to identify short and long-term laboratory needs
Work with lab members and center faculty manager to optimize laboratory space usage
Oversee laboratory safety protocols to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including chemical safety hygiene, radiation safety, and radioactivity permit applications/renewal
Act as a liaison between service engineers and researchers for scheduling repair and preventative maintenance services
Purchase and manage lab supply inventory
Equipment acquisition process, including: helping decide instrument specifications, obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, write equipment justification statements
Negotiate equipment service contracts
Assist in Federal/Foundation grant management including pre-award and post-award
Prepare and maintain collaborative, material and data transfer agreements across different institutions
Grant report preparation, submission.
Manage HHMI (Szostak only) laboratory budget and finance reports
Other Duties :
Work with program coordinator to apply and maintain visa status for all international scholars
Submit published data to public archives for compliance with Federal Funding rules.
Organize equipment demo or special training sections for members when needed.
Organize lab social activities to promote a positive and collaborative work environment
Maintain lab website and manage lab data archive database
Arrange travel logistics for PI-s, lab members and visiting scientists
Organize weekly laboratory meeting
Work with program coordinator to ensure graduate students are on track with their program requirements
Preferred Candidate Profile:
PhD in Chemical Biology / Cell Biology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology or related fields
Minimum 5 years of experience as a lab manager/administrator
PREFERED: 5 years Research experience in Cell Biology / Fluorescence Microscopy / Advanced Imaging / Molecular Biology or related fields
