  • Responsibilities

    Lighthouse Lab Services is the leading provider of clinical laboratory personnel. Currently, we are working with a hospital system that is looking for a Medical Technologist to join their team outside of Boston, MA.

    Available Shifts:

    • Monday-Friday 2PM-10:30PM
    • Monday-Friday 2:30PM-11PM
    • 9PM-7:30AM 8 days on, 6 days off

    The Role You'll Play:

    • Performs laboratory testing in a safe, accurate and timely manner according to priority status, and established lab policies and procedures. Assures specimens are suitable and properly collected and labeled.
    • Applies knowledge of reference ranges and critical values when interpreting patient results.
    • Reports critical results quickly and accurately to the proper individuals.
    • Evaluates control sample values e.g. notes trends, shifts, takes appropriate actions when control sample is outside acceptable limits.
    • Reports findings to Senior Tech/ Supervisor/Manager. Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills.
    • Actively participates in the Laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
    • Brings forward quality and service issues to Laboratory’s Quality Team and/or Sr. Tech/.Manager.
    • Participates in CAP Surveys as required. -Maintains equipment in assigned area in good working order according to defined procedures and on schedule.
    • Logs performance problems of equipment and corrective actions in designated records.
    • Demonstrates fiscal awareness.
    • Takes conservative approach toward utilization of laboratory supplies.
    • Monitors supply levels and communicate to Supervisor as needed.
    • Recommends ideas for cost reduction and workflow improvement.
    • Organizes work neatly and handles workload effectively. Can perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrates initiative in helping other Technologists, Technicians, and Phlebotomists.
    • Demonstrates proficiency with the laboratory’s LIS Meditech system and basic skills at trouble shooting potential problems.
    • Follows downtime protocols.
    • Adheres to Laboratory Administrative and Compliance Policies. Recognizes potential risk situations and follows up appropriately. Assists Supervisor/Manager as needed with new test implementation, projects, CAP readiness and training of other employees.

    Basic Preferred Profile:

    • Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Sciences or similar.
    • 1+ years of Generalist experience preferred.
    • ASCP/AMT certification preferred, but not required.
