    Lighthouse Lab Services seeks a NGS Laboratory Supervisor to join a rapidly growing biotech company in Syracuse, NY. This lab has recently been highlighted on CNN, NPR, Bloomberg, and Huffington Post for its groundbreaking work. Reporting to the Clinical Lab Manager with oversight from the Clinical Laboratory Director, the NGS Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the administrative and technical operations of next generation sequencing in a high-complexity molecular laboratory. For this position, applicants must be licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor for the Molecular Genetics subspecialty per CLIA and New York State standards.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Oversee preparation of samples for NGS testing and Sanger Sequencing, which will include but
    • not limited to cell culture, DNA / RNA isolation of various sample types, DNA QC, PCR, library
    • preparation, library quantification and sequencing on the Illumina, Agilent, ThermoFisher
    • sequencing / automation platforms.
    • Supervise personnel to perform day-to-day laboratory operations under regulatory requirements
    • to ensure timely result delivery, proficiency testing, and reporting of cases.
    • Maintain efficient lab operations and optimize lab throughput.
    • Resolve technical problems and ensure remedial actions are taken, and documented, whenever
    • test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
    • Responsible for maintaining laboratory records, reports, and files.
    • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies and reagents.
    • Maintenance of lab, service, repair, calibration and proper documentation of laboratory
    • equipment.
    • Assist the Clinical Laboratory Director in assay validation and documentation.
    • Interpret sequencing quality data, and results.
    • Adhere to quality management systems and laboratory policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that regulatory compliance, data integrity, quality control, proficiency testing, and client
    • standards are met including but not limited to auditing test procedures, documentation (GLP),
    • quality assurance meetings regarding laboratory investigations, client follow up and corrective
    • action.
    • Provide support for analytical testing, method validations, note booking, data entry,
    • instrument and method troubleshooting.
    • Work with Quality to ensure personnel training and competency assessments.
    • Address non-compliance, and update technical SOPs, LIMS, oversee sample accessioning,
    • tracking, and storage, QA.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Technologies: Next Generation Sequencing technologies, library preparation, Illumina sequencing
    • Nextseq 2000, NovaSeq 6000, Bravo Agilent library prep, Qiasymphony, familiarity with
    • automated liquid handlers.
    • Experience in development and validation of high-complexity molecular assays in a CLIA CAP
    • regulated environment.
    • Strong technical understanding of laboratory management and operations concepts, procedures,
    • documentation practices (GLP), QMS, etc.
    • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Very detail-oriented, organized and collaborative.
    • Highly self-motivated with ability to take accountability for laboratory operations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor for the Molecular Genetics subspecialty per CLIA

      and New York State standards is required.

    • MS or PhD degree in Biology, Medical Technology. Advanced degree in Molecular Genetics
    • preferred.
    • 3-5 years of experience in a clinical molecular genetics laboratory supervising or managing a lab required.
    • Performing high volumes of molecular genetic testing strongly preferred.
