Lighthouse Lab Services is a leading provider of clinical laboratory personnel across the country. We are currently seeking a skilled Molecular Technologist to join clinical laboratory in Houston, TX.
Job Description:
As a Molecular Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing and interpreting molecular tests to support clinical diagnoses and patient care. You will be responsible for executing a variety of molecular testing techniques, with a primary focus on DNA-based assays. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a clinical laboratory setting and possess a strong background in molecular biology techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1\. Perform molecular tests, including DNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and other nucleic acid-based assays, following established laboratory protocols and procedures.
2\. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results by adhering to quality control measures and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
3\. Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
4\. Participate in the development and validation of new molecular assays, as well as the implementation of new technologies and methodologies to enhance laboratory capabilities.
5\. Collaborate with other laboratory personnel, including supervisors, pathologists, and technologists, to ensure effective communication and coordination of testing processes.
6\. Adhere to safety protocols and practices to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others in the laboratory.
7\. Stay informed about advances in molecular testing techniques and emerging infectious diseases to support continuous improvement and innovation within the laboratory.
Qualifications:
1\. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2\. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Molecular Biologist (MB) by a recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, AMT, etc.).
3\. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory, with specific experience in molecular testing techniques.
4\. Proficiency in performing DNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology assays.
5\. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and interpret complex test results.
6\. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
7\. Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing clinical laboratory testing, including CLIA and CAP guidelines.
8\. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
