HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

This position provides EH&S Leadership and Facilities oversight for the 125,000 square foot Franklin site which houses approximately 350 employees encompassing manufacturing, marketing, service, R&D, and leadership. The EHS Manager leads a staff including two Facilities professionals and an EHS coordinator. The role has responsibility for the site’s safety, regulatory compliance, training and worker’s compensation programs. Regarding Facilities, the Manager coordinates the Facilities team that has the responsibility for all building maintenance and construction projects onsite.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Plan, implement and coordinate safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational illness and injuries and financial losses.
• Conduct & document near-miss and accident investigations to develop solutions that prevent or minimize reoccurrence.
• Lead the site in the administration of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPA, CERCLA, DOT/IATA and other relevant safety and environmental standards.
• Research, monitor, and interpret various Federal, State, and Local recognized rules, regulations, and procedures governing hazardous materials as they impact the company.
• Spearhead all safety & environmental compliance programs related to air, water, waste and chemical handling.
• Support and assist the RSO/LSO to ensure responsible oversight of site radiation and laser safety programs.
• Partner with the Global Compliance Manager to ensure product safety and oversight of the global distribution of potentially hazardous products that emit ionizing or laser radiation and ship with lithium ion batteries.
• Manage the company hazard communication program including maintaining the SDS sheets on chemicals used in the facility.
• Establish and maintain SDS sheets for manufactured products.
• Lead safety-related teams including the site Safety Committee, the Emergency Evacuation Team, and the First Aid Team.
• Develop and coordinate medical surveillance and biological monitoring in accordance with OSHA standards and corporate policy.
• Maintain, report, and work to improve safety metrics that are both proactive (such as number of Hazard ID’s, or Closed Safety Items) and reactive (such as near-misses, accidents, and lost-time incident rates); report any trends and recommendations to management.
• Coordinate EHS related response to customer, corporate, or regulatory agency audits and questionnaires.
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree (Master's preferred) from an accredited institution in safety, environmental or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of safety related experience is generally required for this position. Some experience working with Facilities staff and/or management is preferred.
• Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills.
• Must have strong project management skills.
