    Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with the wonderful regional hospital in gorgeous Eastern Oregon looking for a talented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our client's team.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Medical Laboratory Technician performs moderate complexity testing on patient specimens according to local, state and federal regulations as well as hospital policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accessibility

    • May answer off-work phone calls to resolve time-sensitive issues.

    Competency Assessment

    • Successfully complete initial training as well as 6 month and annual competencies.

    Specimen Collection and Processing

    • Perform phlebotomy on all ages.
    • Properly label, handle, preserve or fixate, process or prepare, transport and store specimens.

    Instrument Maintenance

    • Ensure maintenance is performed on the instruments and equipment at the scheduled intervals as recommended by the manufacturer and as required by CLIA regulations.
    • Call Technical Support or escalate issues to Laboratory Manager as needed.

    Calibration/Quality Control

    • Ensure calibration and quality controls are performed as recommended by the manufacturer and as required by CLIA regulations prior to testing patient specimens.

    Patient Testing

    • Perform testing on patient specimens and verify results within Turn-Around-Time (TAT) limits.
    • Call standby Technician to perform high complexity testing.

    Proficiency Testing

    • Participate in survey samples on a rotational basis along with the rest of the laboratory staff.
    • Follow proficiency testing program instructions to test samples.
    • Treat survey samples in the same manner as patient specimens while following CLIA guidelines.

    Supply Management

    • Restock supplies, mark new shipments appropriately and maintain inventory organization.
    • Apprise designated Technician or Laboratory Manager of supplies in low stock.

    Quality Assurance

    • Follow-up on issues found during pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases
    • Suggest process improvements to enhance quality patient care and reduce waste.

    Participate in quality improvement projects and committees.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma
    • Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is preferred but not required.

    FUTURE REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE

    • The candidate will have the following certifications within 3 years of being hired*:
    • Certified Phlebotomist (e.g. ASCP, NPA)
    • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist/Scientist (e.g. AMT, ASCP)
    • *Minimum qualifications for certification may include completion of a science degree and a medical laboratory technology program.

    SALARY, SCHEDULE, BENEFITS

    • All shifts needed. Rotating 7on/7off – 12 hour shifts (shift differentials for 3rd shift and weekends)
    • $33.81-$47.69 (depending on experience)
    • Full comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD/STD, 401A w/ Match, PTO, Tuition reimbursement, and NHCS, a loan repayment program for qualified personnel.
    • Generous Sign on bonus of $10,000
    • Relocation assistance of $3,000 for 12 months commitment or $5,000 for 24 month commitment.
