Web/Social Media Strategist - NASA California
Job Description
MORI Associates is looking for an outstanding Web/Social Media Strategist to support NASA’s Ames Research Center’s Office of Communications. Located in California’s Silicon Valley, the world-class research center contributes to virtually every major NASA mission and initiative via its expertise in spacecraft entry systems, robotics, aeronautics, and more.
The Web/Social Media Strategist will be responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, and producing social media posts, campaigns, and events that communicate the work of the center to the public. The candidate will also be responsible for managing, updating, and developing content for NASA websites and digital platforms. The candidate will collaborate with a team of content creators and strategists and will be a key contributor and originator in their own right.
Candidates should possess exceptional storytelling skills, writing skills, visual communication skills, as well as solid editorial judgement and the ability to deliver creative content on deadline. The applicant must have a strong attention to detail and a passion for science communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Imagine and conceive strategic social media posts, events, and campaigns.
Research, plan, organize, direct, coordinate, write, edit, produce and publish social media products, including posts, graphics, and videos. Monitor social media accounts and engage audiences.
Design, plan, direct, and advise on strategic social media campaigns and events. Coordinate activities with content creators and strategists across NASA.
Analyze social media metrics. Identify strategies and tactics to improve performance.
Curate and create photo and video media collections. Format media for distribution on social media platforms.
Manage, update, and develop content for websites and digital platforms. Identify strategies and tactics to increase audience engagement.
Invest in building relationships and trust with team members, stakeholders, and peers.
Requirements
3+ years work experience creating social media or digital content.
An excellent portfolio showcasing storytelling skills across social media platforms.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of AP style. Strong ability to take complex science and engineering concepts and package into concise, accurate, engaging, and easily understood language tailored for audiences on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Tumblr.
Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for subtlety.
Self-motivated, able to work independently but also collaboratively. Proven track record as an expert in science storytelling.
Experience analyzing social media metrics, web metrics and generating reports. Knowledge of Sprinklr and Google Analytics is a plus.
Must be proficient in Premiere and Photoshop. Knowledge of graphic design tools and visual designs skills a plus.
