    Job Description

    MORI Associates is looking for a talented, reliable, deadline-driven Digital Communications Strategist to join our team supporting NASA, Office of Communications at Headquarters in Washington, DC.

    The successful candidate will work for the Digital Communications Branch within the News and Multimedia Division. The successful candidate will support NASA’s digital communications strategy in coordination with NASA Centers, Directorates and Missions. S/he will contribute day-to-day content publishing on digital platforms, monitoring and engagement on the NASA social media accounts and updates to the NASA website, www.nasa.gov. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of executing digital communication campaigns that increase engagement. This position requires a high level of creativity, social media and web experience, writing, content management, audio storytelling, solid strategic judgement, effective tactical execution, the ability to measure the effectiveness of products and adjust future actions based on metrics and audience feedback. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, collaborative and committed to meeting tight deadlines.

    Preference will be given to those with previous NASA or Government communications experience as well as a strong writing portfolio, bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.

    Tasks Include:

    • Work collaboratively across the entire organization, other federal agencies, and private sector organizations to execute a modern digital media program, drive engagement, and grow the audience.

    • Develop and help maintain a robust, comprehensive content calendar and multi-channel roadmap. 

    • Craft compelling copy for a wide variety of digital content including but not limited to web pages,social media, video scripts, podcast scripts, articles, blogs, and a newsletter.

    • Post and manage content on the website in accordance to NASA’s Style Guide, applying SEO and taxonomy to content, ensuring findability, helping to enforce information architecture guidelines.

    • Work on high-paced projects including website maintenance, website redesigns, and content migrations.

    • Create multimedia content, such as GIFs, graphics, animations and video products.

    • Provide cross-checking and quality control for team members' social media content so that all posts conform to best practices for that platform.

    • Conduct real-time monitoring and provide recommended courses of action based on user response to agency news. 

    • Perform an audit of NASA’s digital footprint to evaluate performance, identity trends, streamline efforts, and recommend opportunities to consolidate accounts.  

    • Analyzes metrics to understand and better serve the digital audience.

    • Ability to handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent time frames and changing priorities/conditions.

    • Demonstrated commitment to increasing audience diversity.

     

     

    Requirements:

    • BA/BS Journalism, Multimedia, Communications or related field

    • At least 2-3 years of experience in strategic and communications support including integration ofweb and social media.

    • A portfolio of examples that demonstrating creativity of producing content for external audiences and mastery of multiple writing styles.

    • Must be able to write to a range of audiences and creatively explain complex technical ideas in an approachable, compelling way.

    • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud programs related to video and photo design (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere)

    • Flexibility to travel and work different shifts depending on mission requirements.
