    SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP

    The Organic Chemistry Manufacturing Internship provides an opportunity for students who are currently pursuing a chemistry degree to gain experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The chemistry intern will learn about a broad range of laboratory and analytical techniques through direct experience synthesizing small molecules that support cellular imaging and detection products. The intern will also contribute to projects related to product life cycle management, control and revision of critical manufacturing documents, or chemistry process improvements.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Perform organic synthesis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    • Effectively execute manufacturing work orders on schedule by following directions and instructions accurately.

    • Conduct analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and final products in accordance with the manufacturing and quality requirements.

    • Keep a clear, complete, and accurate account of all manufacturing work.

    • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, WIP, and finished product by completing error-free transactions in enterprise business systems.

    • Work with the highest attention to personal and co-worker safety and follow all department policies and guidelines related to operation of process equipment, chemical handling, and waste disposal.

    • Participate in a project to define and implement solutions to a manufacturing or process problem.

    • Specific tasks and/or projects will be assigned based on business need at the time of the internship.

    • The Chemistry Intern II will work under supervision of the department supervisor with mentoring provided by senior chemists.

    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.

    • Solid technical writing skills with an ability to document scientific information accurately and succinctly.

    • Willingness to learn and improve under engaged mentorships.

    • Adaptable, nimble learner, able to think critically and proactively solve problems.

    • Effective people skills in a collaborative work environment.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    EDUCATION

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry – Rising Junior who has completed Organic Chemistry series with Lab course.
