Job Title: Pathology Supervisor – Core Lab
Location: Raleigh, NC
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM; Rotating every 4th Friday; No weekends or holidays
Overview
The Pathology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the pathology laboratory, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency in all diagnostic processes. This role provides technical and administrative supervision, manages staffing needs, and supports the development and implementation of new procedures and equipment. The Supervisor also performs laboratory testing as needed to maintain technical expertise and serves as a resource for staff on complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise laboratory personnel within assigned section(s), ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Perform and oversee daily diagnostic processes to ensure timely, accurate results.
Assist in planning, reviewing, and implementing technical studies and new laboratory procedures.
Oversee quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and procedure updates in compliance with accrediting agencies.
Provide staff training, education, and competency assessments; counsel employees on performance issues.
Collaborate with management on hiring, scheduling, inventory control, and budgetary planning.
Act as a technical consultant to staff and leadership, resolving complex testing and workflow issues.
Maintain focus on customer service and promote teamwork across laboratory sections.
Prepare and present operational data and performance metrics to internal and external committees as required.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science discipline required.
Certification: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical laboratory experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
Compensation
Salary Range: $35.00 – $43.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
