Undergraduate Intern - Desktop Services/IT PPD 406 reviews - Morrisville, NC 27560 Internship Undergraduate Intern - Desktop Services/IT - 146714 Description Interns will report to the Information Technology team with the Desktop Services group where they will learn about contract research organizations and their role within the pharmaceutical research and development industry. Duties will include, but not limited to: assisting team with machine deployments, service window coverage, ticket handling, and traveling between PPD RTP buildings to provide support, as needed. They will also be assigned specific project activities under the direction of the PPD Intern Advisor. The student will benefit by applying what they have learned in the classroom to practical situations, and by having various opportunities to develop professionally. PPD will benefit by building positive relationships with local colleges and universities. Qualifications Education and Experience: * Must be enrolled in an Undergraduate program * Typically enrolled in Junior or Senior year of college Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Good communication and interpersonal skills * Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively * Good English and grammar skills * Good computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc., Windows operating systems Working Conditions * Work is performed in an office or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. * Occasional drives to site locations. Potential Occasional travel required. Physical Demands * Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours per day. * Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. * Occasional mobility required. * Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck. * Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. * Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. * Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. * May interact with others, relating and gathering sensitive information.
