    SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP

    Phase 1 of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Bio-Flex Apprenticeship Program. Student candidates will complete a 3 month program focused on providing exposure to bio-technology and developing basic operations skills / experiences. Candidates will complete three development tracks focused on (1) soft skill training, (2) technical GMP related training and (3) technical on-the-job training. Successful pre-apprentice candidates will be invited to participate in one of two Operations apprentice programs, depending on personal interest and college education experience / completion.

    Must be currently enrolled in school or enrolled for upcoming / Fall semester.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Practice practical knowledge of PPI Business System/LEAN concepts including continuous improvement with supervision
    • Provide support throughout projects and product builds (Operate UV spectrophotometer, agarose gel electrophoresis, UV image analyzer and other hardware)
    • Staging raw material for specific laboratory processes
    • Support with Cycle Count
    • Conduct maintenance and organization of reagents and equipment
    • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Qualifications
    • 2+ years’ of college education with interest in pursuing bachelor’s degree in science or related fields, with some course work completed in desired field of study.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work within teams
    • Basic knowledge of computer MSOffice skills
    • Read, and understand written laboratory procedures
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
    • Perform related duties as required by Manager/Supervisor.
    • Able to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Must maintain work schedule as assigned, including completion of specific tasks in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
    • Must follow oral and written instructions
    • All personnel are expected to notify their immediate supervisor of any unsafe conditions and/or practices and to take appropriate corrective action.
    • Must demonstrate reliability and responsibility towards work.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive laboratory and business data
    • Ensure that safe laboratory procedures and protocols are followed at all times, especially in the application of universal precautions in handling of all blood and blood products
    • Ensure all processes and teams are in adherence of cGMP and GDP
    • Ensure compliance with corporate, site, and regulatory policies, practices, and guidelines
