You will focus on learning how our organization runs, and can be expected to gain valuable insight that can further your interest in your chosen career field.

    Summary of Internship

    Product Security is a focus at Thermo Fisher which concentrates on the privacy and security of the devices we manufacture, sometimes referred to as Internet Of Things (IoT). The security of these IoT devices could, in some instances, actually affect people’s lives. The Product Security internship position provides an opportunity for inquisitive students who are currently pursuing a cybersecurity, software development, computer science, or computer engineering degree to get hands on experience working with IoT testing, penetration testing and validation. The Product Security intern will also contribute to research projects and advance the overall maturity of our program. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

    Essential Functions

    • Learn about cybersecurity threats impacting the world today
    • Testing of software and hardware using commonly available toolsets
    • Penetration testing methods and approaches
    • Model real world threats and determine outcomes to devices, then validate those outcomes looking for gaps and uncover unknown risks
    • Provide feedback and recommended improvements to our processes and technologies
    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
    • Work closely with analysts, engineers, and project managers who all provide excellent mentorship opportunities through a variety of lenses and experiences

    Qualifications

    • Student currently enrolled in Cyber Security, Systems Engineering, Software Development, Computer Science, or related Bachelor's degree
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
    • Must possess excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments
    • Basic understanding of Networking and Operating Systems, such as TCP/IP
