    Job Description

    Summary of Internship

    Protein Biology Research and Development Internship position provides an excellent opportunity for students to get hands on experience working with our scientific staff on an individual technical project leading to a poster and oral presentation that will be presented at the end of the internship at the Summer Science Forum in August 2020. The position starts on May 18th and runs for 12 weeks with paid 40 working hours per week. The R&D intern works under the close supervision of the assigned mentor and R&D Manager; and will be in close contact with Product and Program Managers.

    Key responsibilities

    • Follow the policies and procedures defined by the organization. Work in a safe environment
    • Committed to accomplishing expected program outcomes. Work with mentor to create a high-quality presentation and poster that meets or exceeds standard of Summer Science Program
    • Communicate effectively
    • Clear about tasks and priorities. Specific tasks will be tailored to the intern’s experience level and abilities
    • Be professional. Respectful and considerate of everyone in the lab. Be on time and report to work as scheduled.
    • Keep lab notebook per regulations
    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
  • Qualifications
    • Must be enrolled in school at the collegiate level as a freshman or sophomore with a major in biological/chemical sciences
    • A 3.0 GPA in science courses is required
    • A scientific course of study is required
    • Hands-on work completed in a laboratory setting

    • Ability to contribute to new ideas
    • Proficient knowledge and experience with word processing, database and presentation software

    • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express thoughts to others and exchange information
