• Build DNA assemblies using cutting-edge molecular biology methods.
• Transform DNA assemblies into a variety of host microbes and evaluate the engineered strains.
• Maintain stocks of DNAs and engineered strains.
• Make reagents, media, and pour agar plates.
• Culture a variety of host microbes.
• Manage multiple ongoing multiday workflows, including preparing reagents and materials, and managing implementation of new research protocols.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work, consistent with company policy and legally mandated recordkeeping requirements.
• Communicate findings effectively to the team, while understanding how such findings relate to company R&D and overall production goals.

• BS or equivalent degree (or a combination of education and experience) in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related fields.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, bacterial transformation, DNA assembly, and cloning DNA fragments.
• Demonstrate good aseptic technique, including working in laminar flow hoods.
• Experience following complicated research protocols.
• Be highly motivated, organized, and work well independently and as a team member.
• Ability to quickly learn and master computer programs and scientific techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
