    International Governance and Economic Development Internship (Summer 2018) New - Durham, North Carolina, United States, RTI Headquarters (RTP Area) 1 additional location - Intern - IDG Governance & Economic Development - - 1805C - Internship Description The Governance and Economic Development (GED) Division Internship Program, within the International Development Group at RTI provides outstanding students the opportunity to work side-by-side with senior international governance experts to develop new tools and approaches to some of the most challenging issues in developing countries. Interns will gain exposure to all aspects of the business development process in governance and are encouraged to propose ideas for independent research or business development projects. Intern benefit from access to RTI-sponsored professional development trainings, internship activities, leadership opportunities, and RTI Intern Alumni Network. Strong preference will be given to interns that indicate skills and abilities to work across GEDs program areas, research areas, and technical groups. Self-motivated, ambitious, team players will be sought out to full-fill our internship positions. Business Development Track (Washington, DC or Research Triangle Park, NC) This internship concentrates on market/business research, business capture, proposal development, strategic positioning activities, and competitor tracking and analysis. Communications Intern (Washington, DC or Research Triangle Park, NC) The selected intern will work with either our Business Development team or with our Global Center for Youth Employment to promote governance work through social media, newsletters, and other methods as needed. Research Track (Washington, DC or Research Triangle Park, NC) This intern will be primarily focused on supporting rigorous technical research, writing, and tools development for strategic areas such as: - Decentralization, Governance, and Civil Society strengthening - Climate change and climate resilience - Countering Violent Extremism - Workforce development and higher education - Gender and youth focused economic development The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern (M&E) (Washington, DC Preferred) This internship is part of the Research Track Internship for the Governance and Economic Development (GED) team. The selected intern will assist with establishing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and knowledge management (KM) systems for Governance and Economic Development projects to effectively capture information, share lessons learned and best practices. Additionally, the intern will work with the M&E & Learning team to help develop and implement tools, methodologies and systems for knowledge management for on-going projects and/or new project proposals monitoring and evaluation system. This could include conducting external research, reviewing internal practices for best practices, and working with the teams on implementing a knowledge management system. This is an unpaid internship and requires the student to receive course credit or fulfill program requirements. The GED Internship Program is open to graduate-level and undergraduate-level students (having completed their junior year course work) pursuing degrees in the fields of: - Political Science - Public policy - Political economy - International development - Economics - Public administration - Urban planning - Journalism - Communications - Marketing - Business - Other related fields International students are encouraged to apply.     • Students must be enrolled in an accredited academic institution.
