    Facilities Operation & Maintenance Internship New - Durham, North Carolina, United States, RTI Headquarters (RTP Area) - Intern - G&A Corporate Administration - - 1809A - Internship Description RTI International has an Facilities Operation Engineer & Maintenance Internship opening for the upcoming Summer 2018 within the Facilities Strategic Service. This internship will provide the successful prospect a mentored learning experience, and the opportunity to expand his/her classroom knowledge and skills within a professional setting. The Facilities Operations and Maintenance Internship will provide the intern direct involvement with improving the efficiency of RTI facilities by reducing operational costs through creation of Preventive Maintenance tickets, analyze data to ensure equipment is operating efficiently, and assist with developing Automatic Fault Detection rules to predict inefficient equipment operation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Special Projects: - Creation of Preventive Maintenance for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing tickets for Lab Building addition and ne 190,000 sq. foot Office Building. - Assist with Building Automation System Upgrade project. - Assist with Work Ticket system analytics. - Assist with Building Automation System Upgrade project, as needed. - Support Energy Analysis, as needed. - Monitor operational efficiency of RTI systems before and after implementation of energy measures. - Energy analysis related to peak electrical charges and methods to reduce peak consumption. Duties and Responsibilities: - Data collection and analysis, such as cost and consumption analyses, to include in presentations for senior management to make informed decisions. - Analyzing existing Preventive Maintenance work orders vs. recommended supplier work orders. - Assist with Customer Feedback Surveys. - Assist with executing Campus Outreach education. - Assist in troubleshooting existing systems or processes for increased efficiency/effectiveness. - Evaluate and update the building energy use equations based on CDD and HDD as well as look for additional predictive drivers. - Work with facilities team to utilize data management techniques for automatic fault detection and financial data analysis. - Work with facilities team to implement document control for department. Additional Information This paid internship, located at our Research Triangle Park, NC office, will begin on May 7, 2018 through August 15, 2018. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours. Hours are flexible during business hours (8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday). Qualifications - Graduate-level or undergraduate-level student, or recent graduate studying Engineering (Environmental, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical), Environmental Management, Economics, or related quantitative field. - Ability to translate very technical information into language everyone can comprehend. - Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and Access. - Demonstrated proficiency in one of the following: MATLAB, SQL, Access, C or Python. - Proven ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple engagements simultaneously. - Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and analytical skills.
