This internship will provide the successful prospect a mentored learning experience, and the opportunity to expand his/her classroom knowledge and skills within a professional setting. RTI's Office of Data Protection is headed by the Privacy Officer and works within the Institute to assure that data is protected in accordance with any and all applicable regulations, RTI policies and procedures and best practice. The selected intern will assist with continuing compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, Federal Privacy requirements, contract requirements and state privacy laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Researching International privacy laws and writing white papers to provide guidance to workforce members; Assisting with updating policies and procedures as needed; Developing and providing training to various business units within RTI; Collaborating on the development of a system to provide metrics around privacy; Assisting with any investigation into privacy incidents or potential breaches; and Assisting with the team's administrative operations, as needed. Additional Information This unpaid internship, located in our RTP headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC, will begin in September 2018 through December 2018. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 15-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours (9.00am-5.00pm, Monday through Friday). Qualifications Currently enrolled as a law student; Strong research and writing skills; Demonstrated leadership skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
