seeking a Intern Year Round - Business Undergrad On any given day, you
may be called on to: * Research and analyze legislative information *
Summarize and analyze congressional proceedings * Research and collate
biographical and background information regarding relevant people and
organizations * Review and summarize federal budget documents * Support
high level visitor engagements * Assist in Government Relations
presentation and delivery * Support and/or manage Government Relations
internal processes * Assist GR management in financial and strategic
management projects * Assist other GR staff in project management and
special assignment completion * Interact with Sandia management in
support of the GR mission * Perform ad hoc office management activities
Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be
eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: * Currently
attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 * Ability to work up to 25 hours per
week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the
summer * U.S. citizenship Additional Requirements: * Genuine interest in
government and policy matters and desire to develop deep understanding
of the legislative process at the federal, state, and local levels *
Interest in a coordinating and managing role in various strategic
planning and other general business functions of the Government
Relations department * Ability to exercise judgment in handling
sensitive information, working with cross organization teams and a
strong customer focus * Ability to successfully handle stressful and
demanding situations * Excellent judgment, tact, and self-confidence in
dealing with elected officials, policy makers, and other highly
influential people * Basic business level computer skills * Ability to
obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) L-Level Security
Clearance * Basic knowledge of business principles and processes * Basic
understanding of a variety of business tools * Basic oral and written
communication skills * Ability to contribute in a team environment *
Knowledge of a suite of business software, including Microsoft Office *
General ability to and experience in researching, analyzing, and
summarizing various types of information Qualifications We Desire *
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration *
Additionally pursuing an undergraduate major or minor in Political
Science About Our Team Sandias Government Relations (GR) team works
internally with lab executives and leadership, and externally with
Members of Congress and their staff, key Tribal, State, Local and
officials, and NGOs in order to develop and manage responsive and
enduring relationships that provide accurate communications and
analysis. This active development and management role ensures informed
responses to inquiries, consistency of message and content, while
maintaining compliance with all appropriate legal, contractual, and
FFRDC obligations. Sandia GR serves as a strategic policy advisor and
partner to SLT, MST, RLT, the Mission Areas, and the PMUs through active
participation in these bodies and regular updates on legislation,
