Overview The South Bay Latino Research Center (SBLRC) promotes and facilitates research in diverse Latino populations living in the border region of San Diego. Using principles of Community-based Participatory Research, SBLRC investigators conduct epidemiologic, intervention and health service research in an effort to improve the health and welfare of the community it serves. Existing partnerships with the SBLRC include the University of California, San Diego, San Ysidro Health Center, Inc., Scripps Health, and Neighborhood Healthcare. The American Heart Association has funded a 4-year clinical intervention that aims to reduce sitting time among older Latinas who are at increased risk of heart disease. The intervention will help Latinas understand when and where they sit most and help them to break up their sitting time. They will wear special devices that help track sitting and they will meet with a health coach to set goals and plan to stand more throughout their day. Under the direct supervision of the Project Managers, the Research Assistant will help with the daily activities and procedures of the American Heart Association study. This position performs recruitment phone calls, conducts data entry, and administers questionnaires. Responsibilities The RA II is responsible for but not limited to: Research and Recruitment: 70% Comply with study protocol Conduct recruitment calls with potential participants and verify eligibility Retrieve and manage incoming screening materials from potential participants Maintain and prepare call logs and screening forms Prepare mass mailings of recruitment materials Conduct reminder calls for participants for scheduled visits Maintain a team oriented approach Data Collection and Survey Administration: 10% If needed and with direction, prepare materials for and conduct assessment visits with study participants Administer study instruments, interviews, surveys and other assessments while following detailed protocol Maintain accurate and complete records and participant charts Data Entry and Quality Assurance: 10% Enter data collected from surveys and physical assessments into the computer database using database templates/menus while adhering to protocols Review, coordinate, and edit data to ensure completeness and accuracy Update tracking records in the data management system Other Administrative Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned: 10% Participate in project related team meetings Provide regular updates project managers Material development (e.g., study brochures, participant eligibility screening and recruitment forms, scripts, formatting survey measures and data collection forms) Translation of study materials (English/Spanish) Qualifications Minimum Knowledge & Abilities Required Ability to quickly learn and apply elementary research methods and procedures Ability to follow oral and written directions Minimum Education/Experience Completion of sufficient lower division coursework to successfully perform the required duties of the position OR equivalent of one year related experience Preferred Qualifications and Special Skills Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Bachelors degree in public health or related field Previous work in community based research A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with SDSU Research Foundation San Diego State University Research Foundation is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets Employer SDSU Research Foundation - 12 hours ago - save job - original job Apply Now Apply On Company Site Save this job
