LSST Intern (Level II) Job Requisition #: 3314 Classification Title: Casual - Nonexempt Grade: NA Location: Menlo Park, CA (HQ) # of openings: 2 Description POSITION OVERVIEW The LSST Project Division has a temporary employment opportunity available for a Student/Recent Graduate who is interested in mechanical engineering, or related STEM discipline and seeking to gain work experience. Reporting to the Cryostat Manager, this position will perform the following duties. CORE DUTIES*: Assist engineering and/or science teams in the assembly and test of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) camera subsystem. The camera is deep in the assembly and test phase of multiple camera components. Adaptability to work on a variety of camera assembly tasks will be needed. * - Other duties may also be assigned Note: This is a non-benefits eligible casual-nonexempt position (work less than 50% full-time equivalent), not to exceed 980 hours in a calendar year. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated, and have US work authorization. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Must be enrolled in a degree program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field At least one year of college level course work on mechanical or electrical engineering or related STEM field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Hands on experience with scientific instrumentation. Debugging of electrical, computer or mechanical systems. School projects or similar internships. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task and complete assignments.
