Summer Intern: Human-Autonomy Interaction Laboratory Waterford, CT Summer Intern: Human-Autonomy Interaction Laboratory Come do a full time, 12-week internship with Sonalysts multi-disciplinary Human-Autonomy Interaction Laboratory (HAIL) team! You will work on a variety of complex human-machine systems, and will work with/learn from a diverse team including human factors engineers, cognitive scientists, computer scientists, applied mathematicians, UX developers, graphic artists, and technological/military domain experts. Depending on your interests and qualifications, you will work on one or more projects in the HAIL R&D portfolio, including topics such as: * Crowdsourcing/Human Computation/Collective Intelligence * Argumentation and Inference Making * Supervisory Control of Unmanned Systems * Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (in different contexts) * Natural Language Processing (Authorship and Intent Recognition) * Interaction & Visualization of Multi-Modal Data (Text, Quantitative, Qualitative, Geospatial, Temporal) * Decision Science & Multi-Attribute Decision Making (MADM) * Tools and Methods for UX and Design Thinking * (Development and Testing of) Sensemaking/Naturalistic Decision Making Models * Novel Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods In addition to project work, you will gain experience briefing corporate technical staff and leadership. You will also be encouraged and assisted in writing and publishing a manuscript based on your work in the lab. Required Qualifications: * Must be a US Citizen * Pursuing a PhD, Masters, or Bachelors degree in a relevant social or computational science field, including, but not limited to: * Social Sciences: * Human Factors * Experimental Psychology * I/O Psychology * User Experience (UX) * Computer Science * Computational Sciences: * Computer Science * Mathematics * Statistics * Data Science * Operations Research * The following qualifications shall be demonstrated in a cover letter accompanying your resume, not to exceed two pages in length: * Demonstrable passion for one or more topics of the HAIL R&D portfolio * Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and desire to explore new fields of study * Clearly identified personal goals that you wish to achieve during the internship Preferred, but not required, qualifications include: * Track record of publishing and presenting scholarly work at conferences, symposia, and journals. * Experience with cross-disciplinary work (i.e. working with colleagues from completely different technical domains).
