    This Senior Director will join Thermo Fisher’s external innovation effort, whose goal is to support and co-develop external disruptive technologies early in their lifecycle that are either core or adjacent to Thermo Fisher’s current capabilities. The Senior Director will work with team members in Corporate Development and Research and Development to identify, evaluate, and as appropriate invest in and guide the early external technology opportunities that hold great promise for advancing Thermo Fisher’s goals. Close collaboration with Divisional leadership will be needed to maintain focus on key areas of need is anticipated.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assess the potential of companies and new technologies, and manage relationships with the companies and/or entrepreneurs.
    • Drive internal agreement across the Company on the priority areas for investment
    • Partner with other team members to drive alignment between investment and research goals for each opportunity.
    • Manage internal and external approvals
    • Participate in oversight structure for successful deals; measure and monitor and transition / disposition when appropriate

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science or related field or related work experience
    • 15 years of working experience in an innovative science or technology environment
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
    • Proven ability to incubate technologies and deliver results
    • Ability to form strong and meaningful relationships with others and an ability to influence top business leadership
    • Ability to travel 50%
