    JOB TITLE Senior Intern, Electronics Business Unit

    Applications Development

    SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP

    The Applications Development Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a physics, materials science, or like master’s degree to get hands on experience working with engineers in a fast-paced development environment. The applications intern will contribute to development projects related to electron and ion microscopy. THE POSITION STARTS IN JANUARY, PAID WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK THROUGH DECEMBER.

    Essential Functions

    Provide engineering support related to product development projects including testing and design support of electron and ion microscope related projects. This work may include development on transmission electron microscopes and/or dual beam electron-ion microscopes. Interns are expected to:

    • Join a project team and contribute at a high level
    • Provide feedback on specifications and designs
    • Learn about electron and ion microscopes and microscopy
    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
    • Specific tasks will be tailored to the intern’s experience level and abilities
    • Interact with many different groups within the organization to ensure that our customers’ needs are understood and are being met by our products
  • Qualifications
    • Engineering or Science Degree
    • An understanding of microelectronic circuits.

    To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

    • Aptitude for data analysis and working with complex tools
    • Understanding of optics is desired
    • Understanding of modern semiconductor manufacturing is desired
