Sr. Intern - Genetic Sciences Division (San Francisco, CA)
Thermo Fisher is seeking an intern for the Capillary Electrophoresis R&D group. The focus of our group is providing research tools for genetic analysis for the Life Sciences including reagents, protocols and instruments. The intern will work on the development of new capillary electrophoresis separation methods for biomolecules such as DNA , proteins and glycanes on one of our capillary array instruments by using a systematic approach to industrial analytical method development.
Tasks will include the screening of separation media additives, media formulation and testing to specifications using basic laboratory techniques such as fluorescent plate reader assays, conductivity meter, conventional and chip-electrophoresis as well as the use of our industry standard CE-instrument DNA-analysis platforms.
The intern will be mentored on laboratory techniques and experimental design in an industry setting.
The successful candidate should have some prior experience in a molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry laboratory.
