Permobil is in search of a Engineering Intern to join our team in Pasco, WA. Pasco is situated along the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State (Pasco, Kennewick, Richland), and is one of the fastest growing young metropolitan areas in Washington. Job Function Permobil is looking for an ambitious, self-motivated student with a stated interest in mechanical engineering and design. The engineering intern will primarily support the research and development team, in addition to providing occasional support to sustaining and manufacturing engineering. The successful applicant can expect to work on component design and integration, design of tooling and fixturing as well as experimental design and implementation. Assigned tasks will require the applicant to professionally and effectively communicate at all levels of the Permobil team. Our internship program requires the applicant to be highly engaged with their work as they will be an integral part of our critical projects. Requirements for Candidates Desire to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced team environment Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both verbally and in written format Self-starter capable of working independently Basic familiarity with SolidWorks Basic familiarity with operation of hand tools If chosen for an interview, please bring a portfolio of past design projects (CAD files required, material prototypes if applicable) Additional Desired Skill-Set Advanced knowledge of Solidworks modeling and drawing creation Proficiency in experimental design, execution and documentation Involvement in extra-curricular activities with an engineering focus Basic familiarity and interest in mechanical systems design, fabrication, maintenance and operation Working Conditions Combination of professional office setting and manufacturing plant; exposure to elements such as noise, dust, cold, heat, and/or odor. Physical Demands Work and move throughout manufacturing plant for extended periods of time; work at a computer for extended periods of time. Bend, kneel, climb, reach, twist, squat, and grasp.
