    Job Description

    Timmons Group is currently seeking a GIS ANALYST join our team. We are open to remote candidates for this role.  The GIS Analyst is responsible for performing a wide variety of production tasks for Geospatial Transportation projects and data management.  They assist and support Project Managers and Developers in meeting project deliverable requirements and deadlines.  The ideal candidate will be inspired by data analysis to gain insight and innovation and have a knack for understanding geospatial transportation data. 

    Our team supports transportation clients across the county at both the state and local government levels.  The Business Analyst selected will have the opportunity to work on many exciting projects our transportation clients.  As a Esri Gold Partner, we are excited to be completely aligned with the cutting edge Esri technology implementations. 

    ​ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: 

    • Use various GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS), as well as various geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis. 
    • Perform transportation data model design and development tasks. 
    • Update Geospatial data on an as-needed basis. 
    • Create maps, configurable applications, data products, reports, and presentations in support of various GIS and technology projects. 
    • Enterprise data management experience and an understanding of ESRI versions and versioning schemes. 
    • Writing end user documentation as necessary. 
    • Working cooperatively with Project Managers and peers to complete assigned work. 
    • Provide on-going support for GIS/LRS programs and functions requiring analysis. 
    • Troubleshoot problems associated with existing GIS applications, tools, and data. 
    • Provide process-oriented approach to project work.

      

    SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS of a successful candidate should have the following but not limited to: 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college in GIS, Surveying, Engineering, Geography, Information Systems, or related degree, and at least three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
    • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Software (Desktop and Extensions, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server) 
    • Knowledge of ESRI suite of tools including Data Reviewer, Workflow Manager, is a plus 
    • Experience utilizing Python. Model Builder, and other Geoprocessing techniques 
    • Develop and maintain transportation-related GIS datasets, including multimodal systems, and historical data entry.
    • Ability to conduct spatial analysis to identify transportation trends and patterns and help inform planning decisions.
    • Create maps and visualizations to support planning efforts.
    • Provide technical support and training to internal staff on GIS-related issues and procedures.
    • Read and interpret documentation and reports for data entry.
    • Ability to consult clients in best practices for data management including workflows, tools, governance models, and integration patterns 
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of team with excellent time management skills to ensure deadlines are met 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills 
    • Require minimal direction in daily operation and problem resolution; and 
    • Strong active listening, feedback, and problem-solving skills.
