    Job Description

    Position Purpose:

    The Non-Revenue field technician will provide field and some office support for the NRW department. The primary goal of the NRW field technician is to locate leaks promptly and assist in other ways to reduce NRW.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Conduct leak surveys utilizing a variety of acoustical equipment, i.e. ground microphones, data loggers, correlators, etc.
    • Collect, record, analyze and interpret field data to pinpoint leaks.
    • Utilize Asset Management system to document leaks.
    • Utilize GPS equipment to locate or update points in GIS.
    • Assist personnel from other internal departments of each operation to accomplish NRW tasks.
    • Manage and maintain the Aquarius Spectrum leak logger system. Troubleshoot and replace faulty sensors, install new sensors, coordinate with T&D staff for assistance with valve sensors, etc.
    • Assist in other miscellaneous NRW related field activities i.e. site inspections, field investigations, meter troubleshooting, etc.
    • Perform office tasks including but not limited to safety training, planning daytime and night-time surveys, reviewing GIS maps, and reviewing CC&B and AMI data.
    • Adhere to all Company safety procedures and in particular traffic safety as it relates to working in traffic
    • Meet with customers and public officials to discuss NRW topics.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    Work Environment:

    • Work will be mostly in the field with occasional office work i.e. safety training, meetings, etc.
    • Field work may occasionally require exposure to adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, etc. in emergency situations.
    • Must be able to travel to all PA operations. Overnight stays may be required.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    • High School Diploma/GED is required.
    • 3 to 5 years in water utility distribution.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in both written and oral format.
    • Ability to read maps.
    • Ability to operate smart phones, laptops and tablets.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

    Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

    • Valid Driver’s license.
    • Class E water operator’s license.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Will be on-call at times to respond to emergency situations (24-7).
    • Ability to hear well to locate leaks.
    • The employee must be able to walk, bend, squat and regularly lift 30-50 pounds and may occasionally list and or move up to 75 pounds.
