    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Awards & Directories Coordinator, in the Marketing department, reporting to the Senior Communications Manager.

    The role can reside in the Houston, New York or Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for playing a leading role in the firm’s rankings, awards and directories strategy, working closely with and collaborating with marketing and business development colleagues, C-Suite individuals, other firm departments, lawyers and firm management. The awards & directories coordinator will work to increase the visibility of Akin and its U.S. attorneys across the firm’s practices. The awards & directories coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and other professionals, and maintaining an environment of collaborative teamwork and continuous improvement.

    Key responsibilities of this position include :

    • Working with the senior communications analyst and senior communications manager, to play a key role in delivering the firm’s awards, rankings and directories strategy in alignment with the firm priorities.
    • Serve as a central point of contact for the firm’s relationships with key legal directories and other rankings and awards publications and organizations.
    • In collaboration with the communications team, monitor, track and inform the relevant team of awards and rankings opportunities.
    • Organize and maintain the legal directory research calendar and awards calendar to track deadlines
    • Liaise with directory and publication editors and researchers to understand methodology and submission guidelines as well as clarify other information specific to the opportunity to optimize our participation efforts
    • Working directly with the communications team, and, in collaboration with marketing department colleagues, lawyers and other members throughout the firm, to draft, develop and review award submissions. This includes determining eligibility, coordinating with relevant stakeholders (firm management; practice leaders; Pro Bono and Diversity Committees), developing content, editing and accurately proofreading submissions as needed
    • Track results and communicate the firm’s rankings, recognitions and awards results both internally and externally including drafting and posting results write-ups to firm website/intranet and social media.
    • Assess and identify award and directory opportunities aligned with the firm's overall strategy.
    • Execute administrative support, such as processing invoices and booking awards tables.

    Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a marketing-related field
    • One to five years of demonstrated increased responsibility in drafting and developing compelling submissions for business and industry-focused awards and accolades
    • Prior legal industry experience is strongly preferred
    • Strong writing and editing skills, including demonstrated ability to synthesize information from disparate sources into a compelling narrative
    • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Familiarity with the legal industry awards and directories environment
    • Ability and willingness to build strong relationships to collaborate across Akin’s global marketing and business development teams as well as its firmwide Business Services teams is essential to successfully work in our highly collaborative team environment
    • Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

    The base salary range for this position in New York is $80,000 to $110,000. Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.

    Because the responsibilities of this position will involve access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information, Akin will screen prospective job candidates to be staffed in this role and will only consider U.S. persons for ITAR/EAR compliance purposes.
