    FULL-TIME, DAY SHIFT, 40 HOURS PER WEEK, VARIABLE DAYS AND HOURS

     

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Health Network Laboratories seeks a CLINICAL PATHOLOGIST with board certification/board eligibility in BLOOD BANKING AND TRANSFUSION MEDICINE with experience in patient blood management and coagulation. Candidates with additional experience in apheresis and/or board certification/board eligibility in HEMATOPATHOLOGY are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold MD or DO degree with successful licensure through the completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or its equivalency. If not currently Board certified the individual will be Board eligible and seek appropriate Board Certification(s) in Clinical Pathology (CP) or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)

      

    SUMMARY:

    Studies nature, cause, and development of diseases as well as the structural and functional changes that take place as a result of disease. Provides diagnosis, from body tissue, fluids, secretions, and other specimens, presence and stage of diseases, utilizing laboratory procedures. Consults with other medical practitioners about ordering and interpreting tests or providing treatments. Performs a variety of technical procedures that results in the creation of microscopic slide preparations. May be designated according to specialty as Clinical Pathology and/or Anatomic Pathology.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     Education/Experience:

    M.D. or D.O. degree with successful licensure through the completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or its equivalency. A minimum of 2-5 years relevant scientific experience in the application of scientific principles, concepts, and techniques in the designated discipline, preferably in an accredited laboratory. It will be expected that if not currently Board certified the individual will be Board eligible and seek appropriate Board Certification(s) in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing laboratories.

           

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. 

           

    Math Ability: 

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

       

    Reasoning Ability: 

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

       

    Computer Skills:

    Ability to use Microsoft Office products, and various other computer software products including the Laboratory Information System.

        

    Certificates and Licenses:

    It will be expected that if not currently Board certified the individual will be Board eligible and seek appropriate Board Certification(s) in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). Continues to maintain all necessary licensures, certifications and accreditations.
