DATA ENGINEER INTERN (DATA SCIENCE INFRASTRUCTURE)

About the role

The Data Science Infrastructure team is a growing group that works closely with executives and leaders across the company to support the development and alignment of our business strategy. We are looking for a Data Engineer Intern to learn about: developing cross-functional relationships and working closely with data engineering and data science teams to drive near and long term initiatives to improve our product and customer experience. This would be an outstanding fit for a detail-oriented individual excited to work hands-on with senior data engineers on efforts building robust and resilient auto-scaling platform solutions. In near real time, Cisco Meraki collects massive amounts of data from its devices all over the world. We collect nearly 6 MM data points each second (~50 BN events per day). In this role, you will get the opportunity to analyze raw data, develop and maintain datasets while using best-practices to ensure data quality and efficiency.

Example Projects of a Data Engineering Intern

• Collaborate with several teams (product and non product) within Meraki to understand their data requirements and requests.

• Leverage existing data infrastructure to onboard and process raw data in the data warehouse, and create intuitive and interesting insights for our stakeholders.

• Learn best-practices around data warehouse architecture to maintain datasets, validate for data quality, lineage, and efficiency.

What Skills You Possess

• Currently enrolled in BS or MS in Computer Science / related technical field or equivalent combination of work experience.

• Experience with or passion for designing, implementing, and debugging ETL pipelines; bonus points for: distributed systems, working with large data sets.

• Strong interest and some understanding of SQL, Python, and scripting languages.

• Team player with emphasis on learning; excited to work hands-on solving technical data problems at large scale.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
