    PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:

    The Innovation Center Silicon Valley (ICSV) explores unconventional ideas, enables revenue, and scales innovation by embracing the entrepreneurial spirit and driving customer engagements within and beyond SAP. We generate new intellectual property for SAP in a highly creative environment to incubate new ideas; demonstrate feasibility of new technologies; support board level initiatives; and extend the research topics from the Hasso Plattner Institute. We also work with our field organizations to identify high value business scenarios and enable revenue for strategic opportunities.

    The Marketing and Communications intern will support the activities of the ICSV organization while reporting to the head of Strategy, Programs, & Operations team (SP&O) within ICSV. SP&O works across the organization to promote cutting edge innovations through the development of inter- and intra- team collaboration models that foster strong relationships with universities, startups, and partners while delivering outstanding business, organizational, and shared services to drive efficient, accountable, and lean operations in support of business objectives.

    ICSV is seeking a highly motivated, marketing and communications intern to help create, execute, measure, and manage the go-to-market strategy, messaging, and positioning of ICSV innovations and solutions. Additionally, the candidate will be the thought leader and evangelist inside SAP influencing ICSV’s branding and public persona. The marketing and communications intern will be expected to work with a cross-disciplinary team of business developers, designers, architects, data scientists, and software engineers to shape the most appropriate communications strategies which will amplify ICSV’s charter to key audiences.

    EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

    The specific duties of the Marketing and Communications intern will include:

    THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

    • Evangelize messaging for ICSV’s innovations and solutions.
    • Author and edit blogs, announcements, and new articles to be published via ICSV’s Jam group, ICN Updates, P&I Updates, SAPsv publications, and other SAP communications channels as necessary.
    • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the SAP Silicon Valley communications team to promote ICSV news and activities via the SAPsv communications channels.
    • Provide ongoing updates, presentations, and recommendations to the broader Innovation Center Network management team and executives as appropriate.
    • Serve as voices to the market and act as ICSV spokespeople.

    COMMUNICATION & EVENT COORDINATION

    • Help coordinate and organize ICSV’s representation at industry and business conferences and trade shows such as d-kom, TechEd, Sapphire and similar events.
    • Plan, organize, and execute local events including but not limited to executive visits, Step-In, Innovation Day, and the like as required.
    • Guide tours of the Innovation Center Silicon Valley to interested parties.

    DEVELOP CORE ASSETS AND OFFERS

    • Collaborate with ICSV leadership to define and build a strategic program of compelling offerings, positioning, and messaging which align with the priorities of ICSV, the larger Innovation Center Network, and SAP corporate.
    • Create and manage a core set of assets, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, videos, etc.
    • Identify asset gaps, and champion creation of new assets as required.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    The ideal candidate is a polymath who can take on multiple responsibilities, tasks, and duties across a wide-range of disciplines. The candidate must also be ready and willing to wear many hats and adapt to a fast-moving and constantly evolving business landscape. Therefore the ideal candidate must exhibit the following qualifications for consideration:

    • Currently enrolled in either a Bachelors/Masters/Phd
    • Recent graduates of no more than 6 months past are accepted
    • 1-2 years of Product or Solution Marketing experience
    • Strong project management or leadership skills
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Fluent in spoken and written English.
    • Proactive, flexible, and collaborative work style
    • Unwavering attention to detail.
    • Possess a “never quit” attitude.
    • Self-sufficient & self-motivated.
    • Punctuality is a must.
    • Professionalism at all times in all aspects of the job.
    • Intermediate web development skills.
    • Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
    • Have the availability and means to work on-site on the SAP campus in Palo Alto.
