PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
With more than €20 billion in annual sales, SAP manages an enormous diversity of businesses. However, moving the needle inside of SAP’s dominant enterprise business requires adding more than incremental innovation – it requires the development of massively disruptive organizations. SAP.iO Venture Studio is tasked to create those businesses, using SAP’s unique position and differentiated data sources to transform industries ranging from talent management to security. Our incubations must be big enough to move the needle at SAP, attack new market opportunities for the company, and be able to be tested through rapid iteration and constant customer feedback.
We identify promising talent and ideas, invest between $750K and $2.5M in seed-stage capital, and scale the ventures over time. The startups built within SAP.iO incubation operate differently to traditional corporate business units: General Managers are entrusted with end-to-end responsibilities, teams manage to cash, and Boards provide oversight and regular guidance.
SAP.iO’s Venture Studio invests in teams through a venture-capital driven model. Teams that receive funding from us have the responsibility to independently pioneer opportunities that are big enough to move the needle at a company of SAP’s scale.
