  • Responsibilities

    SAP SuccessFactors is recruiting for the position of HCM Research graduate student intern. This role is responsible for developing evidence-based insights to guide the design, promotion and use of human capital management (HCM) technology. The role provides a unique opportunity to study a large range of technology-enabled HCM practices at a global level. Qualified candidates must demonstrate:

    • EXPERTISE IN WORKFORCE PSYCHOLOGY. Strong understanding of empirical research studying employee attributes, job performance, career development and organizational factors impacting workforce productivity. Interest in a range of HCM topics is critical. Enrollment in a Ph.D. program in industrial-organizational psychology or related field is preferred.
    • STRONG WRITING SKILLS. The ability to translate complex topics related to workforce psychology and HCM technology into engaging, easy to understand articles and documents of varying lengths. The ability to quickly produce high quality written communications for audiences with differing backgrounds and interests.
    • SELF-GUIDED LEADERSHIP, INITIATIVE AND INNOVATION. Ability to independently identify and capitalize on opportunities to add value through use of one’s own skills and expertise. 
    • FLEXIBILITY. Ability to quickly learn and develop an effective point of view regarding different HCM topics. Willingness to change projects and focus on new topics with little advanced notice.

           

    ABOUT THE HCM RESEARCH TEAM

    The SAP SuccessFactors HCM Research team studies how human capital management (HCM) technology can be used to increase business success. Our work focuses on the intersection between workforce psychology, HCM technology and business performance. We primarily study topics related to the changing nature of work and workplaces, and its impact on the design and use of HCM technology. The purpose of the team is to identify future areas for investment, as well as support the design, sales and use of existing SAP SuccessFactors solutions.

     

    Members of the HCM Research team are tasked with contributing a research-based point of view to our product development, product marketing, sales and customer engagement programs. All team members must excel at:  

    • Thought leadership—maintaining and demonstrating knowledge of academic research and market trends around HCM topics that impact the success of our customers and our company. 
    • Collaboration—working with product marketing, product management, customer-facing teams (sales, services) and customers to incorporate HCM expertise into the design, messaging and deployment of our solutions and services.  
    • Research—end-to-end management of applied research projects to gain a deeper understanding of key HCM topics. 
    • Cross-functional management—managing multiple work streams and collaborative relationships to ensure synergy between HCM expertise, solution design, and solution positioning and delivery.   
    • Knowledge marketing—creating and disseminating assets that effectively communicate SAP SuccessFactors HCM expertise and capabilities to our market and customer community

You will also work with client representatives at all levels (frontline employees to executives) and be expected to adapt your style accordingly. You will partner and support internal teams and integrate your perspective with the contributions and expertise of others.  
    • RESEARCH SKILLS – You will have the opportunity to use diverse research methodologies (e.g., literature reviews, interviews, surveys) when conducting your research.  You will be expected to conduct research at the best level possible given practical constraints and will strive to maintain the data integrity and evidence-based nature of your conclusions.

    • Must be currently enrolled in either an associate, Bachelors, Masters or PhD
