    PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

    SAP.iO is SAP’s strategic business unit to incubate startup innovation and drive new business models for SAP.

    The SAP.iO Fund & Foundries invest in and accelerate external startups to strategically expand SAP’s ecosystem.  The SAP.iO Fund makes direct investments in external, early-stage enterprise software startups that enable SAP customers to realize new, highly incremental value from investments in SAP solutions.  The SAP.iO Foundries are SAP’s global network of top-tier startup programs, including accelerators, that enable startups to build innovative software that deliver value for SAP customers.

     

    The Intern supports the SAP.iO Fund team in the sourcing, screening and analysis (including financial) of potential investments at seed and series A stages in the U.S.. The intern will maintain coverage of market within a select area (theme) of investment, screen best candidates and provide insightful analysis of the potential investments.

     

    This position is based in New York, and reports to Joanna Maryewska, Investment Principal at SAP.iO Fund.

     

    EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

    The Intern, SAP.iO Fund will be responsible for a number of key activities, including:

    • Research on prioritized themes for investment
    • Screening of opportunities across U.S., with particular focus on East Coast, including at incubators, other VC funds, corporate programs or at events
    • Attendance of events from incubators and startups
    • Analysis of investment opportunities, including market, competition, product and technology, business model, financials, team
    • Timely communication and reporting on the best potential investments that meet the Fund criteria
    • Support the organization of startup and fund events

    EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    Required skills

    • Experience in research, quantitative analysis, and providing an evaluation with an ability to communicate the messages in a targeted manner depending on the audience and format (e.g., Word document, PowerPoint presentation, etc.)
    • Ability to build and expand professional networks on behalf of SAP.iO Fund
    • Basic understanding of emerging technologies relevant to enterprise software
    • Desire to learn new information and be a self-motivated starter with strong sense of self, self-confidence, drive, and tenacity
    • Demonstrated track record of taking initiative, being flexible, and promoting innovation
    • Proven ability to work with speed and accuracy to deadlines
    • Interest in current affairs and an appreciation of their impact on markets, technology, SAP customers, the ecosystem, etc.
    • Fluent level of using Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint) to create executive-level briefings / presentations
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required from a top-tier university (candidates in the process of getting degrees will be also considered)
