As a small but mighty design team within SAP’s Palo Alto campus, we celebrate diversity across cultures, hobbies, and disciplines. We enjoy a light-hearted, casual environment that allows different personalities and work styles to thrive.

Our team likes to think of ourselves not just as designers, but as thinkers and tinkerers too. We spend as much time researching, brainstorming, and validating as we do designing and implementing our ideas. Our skills involve research, interaction design, visual design, product management, and development. We all come together with one main purpose — from the first sticky notes of a design-thinking workshop, to the last lines of code — to design, develop, and deliver high-quality, user-centered and delightful products.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Visual Design Intern, you will get a chance to own design topics and take them from ideation to execution. You will be involved in different aspects of the product design and development process while working closely with designers, product managers, engineers and other stakeholders. You will also have mentors/design buddies who will guide and work with you to make sure your internship is impactful and rewarding.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Help define product vision in a multi-disciplinary team
• Create visual experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
• Create storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to communicate UX design ideas
• Verify designs through reviews, validations, and usability testing
• Provide visual design support for a wide range of visual design initiatives
• Collaborate with fellow visual designers, interaction designers, user researchers, product owners, and developers

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Recently completed or working towards a degree in graphic design, visual design, or other related fields
• Exceptional portfolio showcasing a wide range of visual design work on mobile and web applications, digital experiences, corporate communications, and/or branding
• Experience in UI design including user-centered design methods
• Excellent oral and written skills, and a demonstrated proficiency in effective communication with product stakeholders and research subjects
• In-depth knowledge of color, typography, iconography, space, and texture

NICE TO HAVE:

• Previous internship or related experience in visual design, interaction design, and/or user research
• Strong understanding of mobile/web design trends and requirements
• Ability to create wireframes or animations to effectively convey dynamic interactions to developers
• Video production, motion graphics, photography, and/or animation skills
• Ability to build visual designs in HTML/CSS
