About the team

Use data science to create intelligent products for the best-in-class cloud procurement solution. We are looking for a Data Scientist Intern to be part of our SAP Ariba Platform Data Science Team and help draw insights from one of the biggest B2B data stores in the world. A key trait to be successful in this role is to have a love for data and utilize it to solve critical problems and deliver end user value. You will create predictive models, extract insights from data, find patterns in payments and buying data, and use your analytical skills to take our business applications to the next level.

What you’ll do:

Position title: SAP Ariba iXp Intern – Data Scientist  

Location: Palo Alto, CA (virtual)

Expected start date to end date: June 7th, 2021 – August 13th, 2021  

In this role, you’ll:

• Responsible for coding, testing and analyzing data to be used for creating intelligent product.
• Work with data scientists and other developers and cross-functionally with product managers and other engineering teams to deliver predictive models from concept to product.
• Model Building Cycle – pull, cleanse, and validate data for analysis and modeling.
• Create and implement predictive models for various business process like payment risk, relationship discovery, categorization (unsupervised learning), catalog optimization, etc.
• Work with software engineers to put predictive models in production
• Determine the tracking necessary to enable analytics of our products and features by working closely with product and engineering partners

Who you are:

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

• Currently be enrolled in a undergraduate or masters program (Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Physics or similar) degree program
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language
• Hands on experience with Python and/or R statistical programming language
• Good conceptual of CS fundamentals like Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, and DBMS a plus!
• Excellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilities
• Experience in establishing and sustaining excellent relationships with the extended team
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Local candidates preferred
