    About the team

    We’re looking for a talented intern to jump start a new research initiative for our design pattern library. This person should be passionate about design research, interested in gaining hands-on experience in planning, designing and executing formative and evaluative research methods. You’ll be the UX Research champion responsible for infusing user insights into the product development process in close collaboration with designers, developers, and key product stakeholders across the SAP Ariba product engineering organization.

     

    You will also build up domain knowledge in business-to-business procurement between Fortune 500 companies, powered by SAP Ariba solutions. On Ariba Network, buyers and suppliers from more than 2.5 million businesses, operating in 190 countries, discover new opportunities, collaborate on transactions, and grow their relationships. You work will be instrumental to delivering a cohesive user experience for buyers and suppliers across all SAP Ariba solutions.

     

    What you’ll do:

    Position title: SAP Ariba iXp Intern – User Research

    Location: Palo Alto, California (virtual)

    Expected start date: June 7, 2021 – August 13, 2021

     

    In this role, you’ll:

    • Collaborate with product stakeholders to determine user research goals and participant criteria
    • Determine the most appropriate and impactful method of research
    • Develop user research briefs that outlines research goals and methodology
    • Coordinate participant recruitment with user researchers and product stakeholders, develop and apply participant recruitment criteria and screener
    • Prepare user study materials such as study protocol, interview guides, and survey questionnaire
    • Conduct in-house research to test new design concept
    • Analyze research data and compile findings. Work closely with designers and developers to turn user data into actionable design requirements that feed into the design and influence product direction
    • Present findings and related design recommendations to product stakeholders
    • Promote user centered design principles and best practice within the organization
  • Qualifications

    Who you are:

     

    We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

     

    Requirements

    • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology, or a related field
    • Familiar with design thinking principles and user centered design process 
    • Strong knowledge of common qualitative and quantitative user research methods: moderated and unmoderated usability testing, interviews, heuristic evaluation, surveys, persona and user journey development
    • Working knowledge of conducting user research including participant recruiting
    • Effective and confident communicator – one that can clearly articulate research methodologies and present research insights to cross-functional teams
    • Enjoys collaboration and has experience working productively in teams

     

    Nice to have

    • Experience with end-to-end user research process including research participant recruitment
    • Experience conducting research with remote users
    • Experience with pattern libraries
    • Able to give design feedback
