    ABOUT THE TEAM

    North America Communications is responsible for SAP’s corporate reputation, press and media relations, executive and employee communications, employee engagement initiatives, and corporate social responsibility across the U.S. and Canada. The team develops strategic messaging and content and engages vital audiences in dialogue to advance SAP’s position. The team:

    • Engages with the business through a variety of communication channels, with emphasis on media outlets, social media and multi-media
    • Supports and promotes regional spokespeople and senior executives to increase visibility and influence externally and internally
    • Plays a significant role in informing and engaging employees, and motivating them to embrace SAP values and objectives
    • Leads the region’s corporate social responsibility initiatives
    • Manages crisis communications across the region

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    Position title: SAP North America Communications Intern

    Location: Virtual role, any US

    Expected start date to end date: May 10, 2021 – November 10, 2021

    In this role, you’ll:

     

    • External Communications (60%)
      • Manage social media accounts for several SAP executives
      • Develop thought leadership blogs and other pieces for SAP senior executives – externally and internally
      • Create compelling customer stories for placement in earned and owned channels
      • Be proactive about generating new industry trend pieces and thought leadership articles based on media climate
      • Work as needed on presentations for team leaders, execs, team meetings and other
      • Develop creative pieces, infographics, presentations, graphics, videos on an as needed basis or assist colleagues and vendors on the creation of these pieces.
      • Author, review and edit blog posts, press releases and newsbytes as needed, as well as, various employee communications including executive emails
      • Work with team to position articles / pieces externally, as well as, leverage internally
      • Work with media relations team to understand “beat” of target reporters and generate content / pitches that may be of interest
      • Work on media pitching
      • Research new and existing media targets and develop creative ideas for how to build and strengthen relationships with these industry media.
    • Employee Communications (30%)
      • Work with cross-regional teams on internal articles for their newsletters or corporate portal stories
      • Support Market Unit communications leads on internal communications initiatives including quarterly all hands
      • Contribute creative ideas to strengthen North America employee communications
    • Administration (10%)
      • Contribute to the generation of periodic reports to showcase outcome of communications programs
      • Maintain organized excels to track progress of team, work, metrics
      • Take and distribute detailed notes and call minutes in a timely fashion.
  • Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE:

    We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills (in English), writing portfolio preferred
    • Great storytelling/writing skills; video editing/visual storytelling skills, a plus
    • Experience with social media and blogging
    • Experience with MS Office software (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Experience working with executives
    • Strong attention to detail

     

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Candidates should be enrolled in a university, a graduate or graduate student. Prefer Journalism, English literature or Communications majors with communications emphasis

    • Creative and resourceful self-starter who can work independently
    • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Self-driven and attention to detail, resourceful and proactive, demonstrated success in moving projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
    • Proven track record of receiving and incorporating constructive feedback
