We’re looking for a remote Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) to join our Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiR) program.

What you’ll do:

Position title: SAP.iO Venture Studio iXp Intern – Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) Intern

Location: Remote / San Francisco, CA

Expected start date: June 7th, 2021 – August 13th, 2021

In this role, you’ll:

With more than €20 billion in annual sales, SAP manages an enormous diversity of businesses. However, moving the needle inside of SAP’s dominant enterprise business requires adding more than incremental innovation – it requires the development of massively disruptive organizations.

SAP.iO’s EiR team is tasked to explore, evaluate, and provide recommendations on solutions to big problems in enterprise software, using SAP’s unique position and differentiated data sources to transform industries ranging from talent management to security. Our recommendations and incubations must be big enough to move the needle at SAP, attack new market opportunities for the company, and be able to be tested through rapid iteration and constant customer feedback. These may be strategic fast follow efforts, ventures aligned to one or more of SAP.iO’s strategic opportunity areas, or venture sourcing through acquihire. Each EiR must have the ability to independently structure thinking and workplans around each potential venture topic and be self-motivated to execute their approach; as well as be willing and eager to provide feedback to other EiR team member’s proposals and collaborate on knowledge exchange.

EiRs will spend the summer searching for and validating their opportunity before pitching it to an SAP investment committee consisting of executives from across the company in order to receive investment upwards of $2.5M in seed stage capital to scale the ventures over time. The startups built within SAP.iO incubation operate differently to traditional corporate business units: General Managers are entrusted with end-to-end responsibilities, teams manage to cash, and Boards provide oversight. In later years, general managers are eligible to receive royalties on the products they develop, and successful ventures have the opportunity to be spun out into new business units within SAP – for example, Spotlight by SAP spun out to establish the business process intelligence unit reporting directly to an executive board member and Ruum by SAP is now our low-code, no-code foundation within the SAP Cloud Platform what is the basis for SAP and SAP Partners to build, extend, and connect SAP applications.

EIRS WILL ALSO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT EXISTING VENTURES WHILE EXPLORING NEW OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR OWN. POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND VENTURES EIRS HAVE SUPPORTED IN THE PAST INCLUDE SUCCESSFUL VENTURE SUCH AS:

Supporting Spotlight by SAP:

• Create the customer success engine for Spotlight and prioritize customer requests
• Pioneer sales enablement through strong content marketing
• Build partnerships and integrations to extend processes beyond SAP systems

Supporting Ruum by SAP:

• Lead the creation of a template library for business users
• Deliver a world class onboarding experience for enterprise customers
• Create a customer support function that will scale with high growth

Successful EiR iXp interns thar receive funding for their idea will be offered a full-time role at the conclusion of their internship to join their venture idea full-time after graduation.

Who you are:

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

• MBA/advanced degree highly preferred or equivalent work experience
• Strong desire to be part of an early-stage team launching a new product to market
• Proven start-up and rapid prototyping experience – former Founder big plus
• Software experience and/or knowledge preferred
• A passion for data and the insights that it can enable
• Proven analysis and problem-solving capabilities paired with strategic thinking
• Front end programming or proficiency in SQL – ability to code in Python a plus
• Experience delivering software product presentations and demonstrations
• Ability to excite and inspire people around ideas and approach to innovation
• Customer centric thinker with a strong product management experience
• Strong experience working in large enterprises and/or software start-ups and buzzing with ideas to optimize business processes through innovative cloud-based software solutions
• Successfully built and shipped amazing products with superior user experience and demonstrable customer success
• Charismatic visionary and communicator who inspired teams and customers alike
