    ABOUT THE TEAM:

    The SAP Corporate Development team evaluates potential M&A targets and partnership opportunities as inorganic growth options for the company.

     

    The team’s activities include the strategic assessment, sourcing, diligence, and execution of SAP’s global mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments. Following each acquisition, the team also manages the post-merger integration (PMI) process across all key functions, including legal, HR, accounting and finance, product, IT, go-to-market, facilities, customer support, et. al. SAP Corporate Development is organized across three major hubs, Walldorf, Newtown Square, and Palo Alto. The rotation opportunity is within Corporate Development’s Silicon Valley team.

     

    An acquisition may be large and transformative for SAP; or it may be smaller and tactical, related to complementing an existing solution from a go-to-market or from a technology perspective.

     

    The identification of potential acquisition, partnership, or strategic investment targets for SAP entails extensive analysis of individual companies, market segments, or new technologies. This assessment combines an understanding of the growth dynamics associated with a market segment, the financials of individual companies, and the intricacies in the development and deployment of a new technology. The role will be embedded in within the Corporate Development team located in Silicon Valley.

     

    As an intern, your role will be to support the Corporate Development Team in carrying out these functions.  

    IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:

    • Assess the total available market for a particular segment and the relative performance and share of companies which compete in the segment.
    • Examine closely publicly available data associated with individual companies, including data related to their financial performance, employee base, company positioning and product history. 
    • Compile reports with input from the assessments described above, for the review of other members of the corporate development team and their counterparts in line of business executive management.
  • Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE:

     

    We’re looking for someone who can challenge the status quo and likes to stay curious. You enjoy working on meaningful projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

     

    • Candidate needs to be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, Masters, MBA or PhD degree program which is applicable to the position
    • Very strong internet research, data analysis, and strategic analysis skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly around the presentation in simple terms of complex quantitative information.
    • Knowledge of SAP’s products and solutions portfolio is a plusSoft skills: We are looking for a passionate team player with an intercultural sensitivity. The student should be a self-starter and networker who can make change happen through strong communication skills and keen perception. 
    • No work experience needed, but experience in large companies can be beneficial.
