    What you’ll do:

    Position title: SAP iXp Intern – HR Research Team

    Location: Houston, TX

    Fulltime position: 40 hours a week

    Expected Duration: 6 months

    Expected Start Date: September 2024

    SAP SuccessFactors is recruiting for the position of HR Research graduate student intern. This role is responsible for conducting applied research using diverse research methods (both qualitative and quantitative) to study emerging workforce, HR, and HR Technology trends and developing evidence-based insights and practical recommendations for SAP SuccessFactors’ product development and customer organizations. The role provides a unique opportunity to serve as a scientist-practitioner and study workforce topics at a global level. Qualified candidates must demonstrate:

    • Expertise in workforce psychology. Strong understanding of the broad organizational psychology literature, including empirical research focused on employee attributes, job performance, career development, and organizational factors impacting employee experience. Interest in a range of HR topics is critical.
    • Strong writing skills. Ability to translate complex topics and research findings related to workforce psychology and HR technology into engaging, easy to understand documents of varying lengths tailored to HR practitioner and business audiences.
    • Self-guided initiative and innovation. Ability to independently identify and capitalize on opportunities to add value through use of one’s own skills and expertise.
    • Flexibility. Ability to quickly learn and develop an effective point of view regarding different HR topics. Willingness to change projects and focus on new topics with little advanced notice.

    • Written and Verbal Communication – You will write a wide variety of documents and create presentations targeted to internal audiences, customers, and the HR and business communities. You will also conduct a wide variety of presentations that include internal enablement sessions, customer meetings, and conference and event presentations.
    • Initiative and Self-Direction – You will be managed by a virtual leader and responsible for identifying and driving applied research-related activities. You will be empowered to execute your work under minimal direction and are expected to do so. You will be expected to see and realize the creative opportunity in research and development.
    • Adaptability – You will be part of a large, purpose-driven company that maintains a steady focus on long-term goals while adapting to a variety of local and global changes and challenges. You will strive to make quick decisions, welcome feedback on your ideas, and execute actions efficiently and effectively even in the face of ambiguity. You will get to participate in many of the decisions that affect your work but will also be expected to support other organizational decisions and associated changes as they occur.
    • Responsiveness & Attention to Detail – You will be working on a variety of tasks with a high amount of autonomy. You will strive for accuracy in your final work. You will take pride in responding to requests quickly even if the answer is to indicate when you can give a more detailed response. You will work hard to meet milestones and will proactively communicate in advance in situations when goals may be missed for whatever reason.
    • Professional Development – You will be seen within the company, customer, HR, and business communities as someone who is impassioned by research, strives to stay up-to-date on new research findings and techniques, recognizes the practical application of research for SAP SuccessFactors and its customers, and enjoys sharing pertinent research findings in a way that effectively communicates complex concepts and helps others benefit from your knowledge and views.
    • Collaboration – You will work with a global cross-functional group of dynamic personalities and experts in diverse domains. You will also work with customer representatives at all levels (frontline employees to executives) and be expected to adapt your communication and collaboration style accordingly. You will partner and support internal teams and integrate your perspective with the contributions and expertise of others.
    • Applied Research Skills – You will have the opportunity to use diverse research methodologies (e.g., literature reviews, interviews, focus groups, surveys) when conducting your research. You will be expected to conduct research at the best level possible given practical constraints and will strive to maintain the data integrity and evidence-based nature of your conclusions.

    Educational Requirements

    • Enrollment or graduated in the last 6 months in a Ph.D. program in industrial-organizational psychology or a related field is required, with a status of post-masters in the Ph.D. program being preferred.

    The SAP SuccessFactors HR Research team studies the psychology of work and its intersection with employee experience, HR, and HR technology. Using our expertise in organizational science and research methods, we conduct original applied research on future of work trends to develop an evidence-based point of view that is used to inform SAP SuccessFactors’ product direction and offer market and customer thought leadership.     Compensation Range Transparency : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 16 - 62 per hour (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
