ABOUT THE TEAM

Industry Cloud Retail Store & Returns is a global team with a multi-national product reach. Our US offices are based in Newport Beach CA with peers sitting in Germany and Shanghai. Our strategic focus is empowering Retail Stores through cloud-native solutions to create the future of in-store experiences. The Retail Store & Returns team feels like a startup with multiple products in early stages of development, so we are ambitiously learning and building new products around market trends and predictions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Position title: SAP iXp Intern - Product Specialist

Location:  Newport Beach - please note that roles will be remote until local guidelines ensure safe office reopenings

Expected start date: August 2022

IN THIS ROLE,

This internship will focus on the Inventory Management initiative under Intelligent Stores. The future of retail stores relies heavily on inventory movement in and through stores. Intelligent Store solutions are integrating with new technologies (and partners) to improve inventory accuracy and availability across the retail store network. Few technologies exist at scale in the market to solve this problem, SAP aims to be the first. The success of this project will establish a clear roadmap for SAP customers to know when one of the most sought-after solutions to a leading pain point in retail operations will be available.

Key deliverables will be developing a clear product roadmap with key milestones for the internal build, partner solutions, and go-to-market. This roadmap will be a comprehensive prioritization based on market trends, customer interviews, and resourcing (both internal and with partners). During this internship, you will lead customer interviews and partner deep-dives to clarify key business cases and support product features. You will own key artifacts such as the PRFAQ, Product Requirement Document, process flows, and rough technical architecture which will provide the details behind each business case and the technical infrastructure to support this product. You will work closely with internal engineering and UX design teams to craft prototypes, demos, and market-ready solutions.

Overall duties include, but are not limited to:

GAIN MARKET & CUSTOMER INSIGHT:

• Monitor market tendencies and technology trends.
• Analyzes technology trends and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities for SAP.
• Contribute to business cases, identify opportunities, and drive innovation in respective topics and domains of the functional role.

ENSURE PRODUCT DEFINITION:

• Actively follow and share developments and trends regarding new SAP and complementary partner service and product offerings, industry trends, and other topic areas relevant to the respective domain.
• Ensure customer input into all product definitions.
• Own and prioritize product backlog to reflect customer and user needs in relation to the value and trade-offs it brings for the product.
• Provide a holistic overview of the overall product backlog and ensures the product team and related Scrum teams have a comprehensive understanding of the product backlog.

ENSURE PRODUCT DELIVERY:

• Take ownership of the holistic product vision and product design and ensures all product teams have a comprehensive understanding of it.
• Develops test cases and/or conducts expert testing and validates planned and implemented scope throughout the product lifecycle and ensures delivery of high-quality software.
• Accept or reject sprint results.
• Ensure creation of product-related noncoded assets.
• Collect and incorporate early feedback from customers and other relevant stakeholders
• Ensure both the internal stakeholders and external stakeholder ecosystems are aware of the developments by working closely with stakeholders and customer groups.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• At a minimum, a degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in product software development, consulting, and/or product management.
• Proven track record of building a product vision and leading the execution
• Technical understanding of the cloud-native application and their implications for product management
• Very strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to rapidly gather data, structure hypotheses, and develop synthesized findings/recommendations
• Excellent functional knowledge of wholesale distribution, consumer products, or retail is a plus
• Proven track record of success in independently leading software development programs/projects with practical experience in software development and/or product management
• Understanding and practicing product management frameworks
• Excitement to learn and be coached
