About the team

SAP Ariba makes business commerce as easy as consumer commerce. We help our customers find opportunities to cut costs, reduce risk, and grow revenue through better collaboration with trading partners. We enable collaboration through the Ariba Network – a cloud-based community where you will find buying, selling, and managing cash to be as easy as using Amazon, eBay, and PayPal. We also host other online communities where business commerce professionals network and share information and best practices, just like friends on Facebook. Ariba is a rapidly growing cloud company and a leader in the procurement space bringing millions of buyers and suppliers together.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The P&I team takes new product ideas from concept to reality with the goal of making them viable revenue generating business offerings.
• We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer Intern who is passionate about building new web and mobile software products using cutting edge open source technologies.
• You can help build the next generation of the largest open business network that connects millions of business users around the world.

The ideal candidate

• Uses their strong object oriented design and development skills in addition to exceptional analytical skills in order to develop new Ariba products
• Takes ownership of features from definition through delivery
• Works on the entire stack – UI, middleware and backend.
• Works closely with peers in a world-class product development organization to continually improve the quality and usability of components through an agile development process
• Optimizes performance and tunes system behavior to make our largest customers successful

Basic Minimum Qualifications

• Working on BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
• Proficient with OO programming and Java/J2EE
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Independent, highly motivated and energetic

Preferred Qualifications

• Quick learner with a passion for solving tough problems
• Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills
• Strong knowledge of relational database, SQL
• Successful track record in writing high quality code
• Good knowledge of computer science fundamentals and algorithms
• Familiarity with Java based frameworks – Hibernate/Spring
• Familiarity with writing test cases using JUnit
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environment
• Familiarity with Angular, Javascript, JQuery, Maven, Tomcat, Maven, Jenkins will be helpful but not essential

Availability

• Intern will be assigned in Palo Alto for a 10 week assignment starting June 11, 2018. Extensions possible.
