    DISTRIBUTION LEADERSHIP INTERN SUMMARY

    Beacon Building Products is seeking a hard-working student intern to assist with Operations within a distribution location. The Distribution Leadership Intern supports Branch Operations by interacting with internal and external customers, learning warehouse and inventory, support operational needs, people management, culture, leadership development, and complete miscellaneous projects as needed. Training will include live training sessions, eLearning, WebEx courses, on-site training and follow up to insure goal accomplishment of each training at a distribution branch. The student intern will gain experience on one of the world’s leading distributor of building supplies.This role will be full time during the summer and part time during the school year.

    The primary responsibilities my include:

    • Order taking, delivery scheduling, and assisting walk in counter sale customers, warehouse, and delivery assistance.

    • Maintain customer relations through phone goodwill to existing customers.

    • Maintain and convey all relevant competitive sales knowledge directly to the Branch Manager for dissemination to the Outside Sales Representatives.

    • Handle incoming customer complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.

    • Attend to all training sessions for inside sales representatives.

    • Support and learn to lead the Beacon’s strong safety culture at a branch.

    • Count, verify and manually unload incoming orders and shipments while utilizing a forklift for moving inventory

    • Verify and manually load outgoing orders onto customer vehicles.

    • General yard and office maintenance to include cleaning and painting.

    • Maintain inventory in appropriate/designated storage areas in warehouse.

    • Provide excellent customer service using professional communication skills.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    This intern program has been highly successful at giving valuable experience to students as well as providing potential long-term opportunities within the company.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Available part-time during school year

    • Available full-time 40 hours during summer and part-time during the school year

    • Minimum of 2 years college completion

    • Business, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, or Supply Chain majors preferred

    • Must be hard-working, responsible, and reliable

    • Must be able to think critically to solve daily issues

    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
