SUMMARY

Beacon Building Products is seeking a hard working student intern to assist with purchasing functions within Supply Chain. The Purchasing Intern supports Supply Chain by placing purchase orders, working with vendors on confirming orders, working with Supply Chain Analysts/Buyers on any order discrepancies, and completing miscellaneous projects as needed. The student intern will gain experience in procurement for the building supply industry, and will learn about one of the world’s leading distributor of building supplies.This role will be full time during the summer.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Place purchase orders as needed

• Maintain accurate delivery information for p/o’s in our ERP system

• Research any p/o or invoice discrepancies

• Prevent & reduce excess & obsolete inventory

• Manage inventory levels at branch locations; maximize inventory turns, while maintaining stock levels required to service customer demand

• Communicate daily with branch managers on requirements

• Work with suppliers to expedite orders as needed

• Complete vendor returns

• Follow all departmental procedures for placing p/o’s

• Generate and maintain reports as needed

• Complete other miscellaneous projects

This intern program has been highly successful at giving valuable experience to students as well as providing potential long-term opportunities within the company.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Available full-time 40 hours during summer

• Minimum of 2 years college completion

• Business, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, or Supply Chain majors preferred

• Must be hard-working, responsible, and reliable

• Must be able to think critically to solve daily issues

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is preferred

• Summer internship will be a remote opportunity
