  • Responsibilities

    In this exciting hands-on role, you further help build and shape the Information Visualization Design competence within Philips Lighting Design throughout all three phases of development. Help develop the Information Visualization capabilities in Design and actively participate in a broader Community of Practice.

    You should be an established Information and Visualization Designer, with some expertise in the visual translation of data-driven content and the ability to use current Philips Lighting Design and emerging computational media and methods to discover, explore, analyze, and communicate complex ideas, concepts, and narratives.

    Be an active participant in co-creation with designers and other internal and external stakeholders as well as the end-user to identify relevant data and knowledge that can then be communicated and visualized in powerful and innovative ways. Your focus will be mid to long-term innovations across Americas Philips Lighting Business Groups, and you will support landscaping new value spaces.

    Knowledge Building Skills

    • You engage an internal interdisciplinary team of designers, developers, data scientists and subject-matter experts for knowledge building.
    • Data Analytics, Synthesis & Critical Design Thinking skills
    • You use analysis, synthesis and critical thinking skills to create a vision and a storyline, and define visual translation and cognitive methods that allow shared understanding and adoption of a large and differentiated audience of non-experts, supporting the creation of meaningful and innovative solutions.
    • Visualization and Communications Skills
    • You use appropriate and effective communicating & visualization skills to deliver successful projects.

    What we are looking for:

    • Have an M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree in visual, graphic, or information design, or information technology, or animation, interaction design, digital arts, or closely related fields by the start of employment.
    • Minimum 3 year hands-on work and a strong record of creative research and practice in the field of information design and visualization.
    • Assertive, collaborative, creative, diplomatic, empathic, enthusiastic, humble, observant, open, patient, personable, persuasive, pragmatic, resilient, tenacious, thorough.
    • Good use of knowledge/ data management and analytics tools, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchbook Pro (or similar), programming and animation tools, storytelling tools, visual prototyping tools.
    • Strong experience in delivering operational design deliverables in static and dynamic mediums.
